2nd July 2016
Windsurfing: Wrabness
Wind Direction: WSW
Wind Stength: F4/F5
Surf / Sea State: Flat chop swell
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: Warm
Weather: sunny cloudy
Max Speed: 25.77 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 22.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

First sail for a long while and first sail at Wrabness, although sailed next door at Bradfield. Nice wide river stretch and was looking to do some speed stuff. Parking here is like pulling teeth, but worse. Space for 4 cars prob 9 turned up + 3 trailers and a motorhome on arrival about 9.30 ish. Then the route march through prickly bramble / stinging nettles to the beach 30 mtrs away. Why R windsurf sites so hard core?
It was windy in gusts but would drop so opted 8.5 Gaas' savage / JP pro 146 instead of 7.8. Wrong choice as couldn't sheet in the gusts. Water was flat either side, choppy in the middle and the wind coming down the river. I was told stay up wind, due to tide. First run was 25.77kts. Didn't go fully broad as the gust wasn't that good, but ended way down with Squiz. Lesson learned, cos it took ages to beat back. That was the end of speed sailing so just did normal reaching and blew the cobwebs out. Was trying out a crossover waist / seat harness and it was very comfortable, more than my seat harness. But I def lost speed as I couldn't sit down as normal and hold the sail down in the gusts. Reckon I lost 2 knots. Not sure now, comfort or speed! I also bought a waist harness to try, so experimenting with 3 harnesses, bought in Edgeriders sell off. Nice day and a few nice gybes on flat water. Squiz Ian Lord Swain Jay Pete Chris all had a good time. Saw Pete on a massive gusts on the downwind leg, (I was going back up / the wrong way) and he went completely broad so I knew it was quick. Later learned that was a 31kts run, so he hammered me today. Lost my GPS and was gutted for 2 hours but found it in my wetsuit as I was washing it!! why the hell did I put it there? Maybe 1 1/2hrs or so of nice sailing, but def wont go if too many there.
